Flyers Of Jewish Councilwoman With Swastika On Her Face Posted In Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS/AP) -- Police in Oakland were investigating who's behind flyers depicting a swastika on a Jewish councilwoman's forehead.

The flyers were plastered throughout Councilwoman Libby Schaaf's Montclair district this weekend. The posters read "Stop Schaaf. Stop the DAC," referring to the city's plan to build a one-stop surveillance center for police and firefighters.

Proponents say the hub will improve emergency response efforts, but critics worry it could threaten privacy.

Schaaf told the newspaper that as a person of Jewish heritage, she found the flyers particularly hurtful.

She said she was surprised she was being targeted because she has expressed concerns about the center and supported initiatives aimed at preventing privacy abuses.
