Flash Flood Watch In Effect For North Bay

POINT REYES (CBS SF) - A flash flood watch was in effect until Sunday evening for the North Bay's mountains, interior valleys and coast, including Pt. Reyes National Seashore, National Weather Service officials said.

The watch is in effect until 6 p.m. and means conditions could develop that lead to flash flooding.

Flash flooding can be life-threatening.

Recent periods of rain that have saturated the soil and swollen small creeks and streams could lead to flash flooding today and Sunday, weather officials said.

Avoid playing or working near small creeks that have high fast-moving water.

Drivers should be aware of ponding on roads and avoid driving around roadblocks.

Residents and visitors should monitor forecasts and be prepared if a flash flood warning is issued, according to weather officials.
