First The Super Bowl, Next The 2024 Olympics In The Bay Area?

SAN FRANCSICO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco, and by extension, the entire Bay Area is on the short list of cities being considered by the U.S. Olympic Committee for the nation's official bid for the 2024 summer games.

If it's not San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles were also being considered, but sources quoted in the Boston Globe suggest they may have been eliminated in a Tuesday meeting. Los Angeles hosted the games in 1984.

It also appears Dallas has been eliminated, and the mayors of New York City and Philadelphia withdrew their cities' bids in May.

If the speculation is correct, it leaves just Boston, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco in the running to host the games.

The last U.S. city to bid for the games was Chicago, but the Windy City finished dead last in voting for the 2016 Games.

The USOC reportedly hopes to select the city to nominate in the next six or seven months.
