Firefighters In Vallejo Put Out Kitchen Fire

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Firefighters extinguished a kitchen fire in a Vallejo apartment Tuesday evening.

The Vallejo Fire Department announced via Twitter that units were en route to an apartment in the 400 block of Virginia Street at 7:40 p.m.

Two units had arrived on scene by 7:44 p.m., and residents reported that the incident had started on the stove, firefighters said.

By 7:57 p.m. the fire was out. Heavy smoke was observed in an upstairs hallway, though, so crews stayed on the scene to ventilate the building, according to firefighters.

Further details were not immediately available.
