Firefighters Free Fawn Trapped In San Carlos Backyard

SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) -- Belmont firefighters rescued a fawn on Thursday in San Carlos that was trapped in a home's backyard, Belmont city officials said.

Firefighters were called to a home in the 600 block of Wellington Drive in San Carlos around 1 p.m. Thursday, according to Belmont police Capt. Patrick Halleran.

They found a fawn stuck between the wall of a home and a fence post, and were able to free it about 15 minutes later, Halleran said.

The fawn had minor injuries and was checked at the scene by San Mateo County Animal Rescue and Control before being released.

Officials think the fawn had become trapped during the previous night.
