Firefighters Investigate 2-Alarm Fire At San Jose Middle School

SAN JOSE (KCBS) -- Firefighters are investigating a two-alarm fire at a San Jose middle school Thursday morning, a fire official said.

A report of a fire at Caroline Davis Intermediate School at 5035 Edenview Drive was reported around 5:30 a.m., a fire dispatcher said.

San Jose Capt. Fire Reggie Williams told KCBS that that were able to put out the fire, which he said appeared to have started above the building's multipurpose room, out quickly,

"There were able to knock this fire down within about 20 minutes saving the majority of the building," he said. "We were actually able to get inside and protect some of the school belongings by moving them from beneath the fire and making sure they were protected from the water and the smoke."

Williams also said that whenever there is a fire at a school, it's usually considered suspicious but he also said, however, there did not appear to be evidence of vandalism.

A neighbor, who did not want to use her name, said there has been a fire at the school "every other summer or so."
