Firefighters Contain 2-Alarm Fire In San Francisco's Sunset District

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS-SF) – A two-alarm fire in San Francisco's Inner Sunset neighborhood near Golden Gate Park that threatened a neighboring building is under control, according to fire officials.

The fire at 1210 Fourth Ave. at Lincoln Way was reported at 10:35 a.m. and was declared under control at 11:32 a.m., according to fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge.

The fire appears to have begun on the second floor of the building and extended to the third floor, Talmadge said.

A second alarm was called because a building at 253 Lincoln Way was threatened by the fire. Talmadge did not yet know whether that building also sustained damage in the fire.

No injuries have been reported, but a pet cat that was initially reported as rescued has died from injuries sustained during the fire.

The fire was was impacting traffic on busy Lincoln Ave.
