Fire In Residential Martinez Neighborhood Put Out, Evacuations Lifted
MARTINEZ (CBS SF) -- Evacuations caused by a 50-acre wildfire in southern Martinez Sunday afternoon were lifted early Sunday evening, according to firefighters with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
The two-alarm blaze prompted immediate evacuation orders for a residential area in the vicinity of Alhambra Avenue near Forest Way, about a mile south of state Highway 4, firefighters said.
Update: Fire on Alhambra Ave is out and we will soon be opening the roadway. All residents can return home. We appreciate the cooperation from all the residents during the evacuation.

The evacuation area was from Alhambra Avenue stretching east to Morello Avenue, south to Macalvey and Sunnybrae Drives and north to Vine Hill Way.

The fire was reported about 4 p.m. By 6 p.m., however, it was under control. No structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported, firefighters said.
Authorities say air quality may be poor as a result of this fire, and others burning in the bay area. Residents are advised to take reasonable precautions, such as closing doors and windows to prevent smoke from getting inside.
