Fire Damages Apartment, Vehicle In East Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Firefighters battled a fire that damaged an apartment and a vehicle along Foothill Boulevard in East Oakland Saturday morning, according to a fire battalion chief.

The fire was reported at a duplex apartment in the 6200 block of Foothill Boulevard near Frick Middle School at about 6:45 a.m., Oakland fire Battalion Chief Lisa Baker said.

The fire was brought under control shortly after 7 a.m., Baker said.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, the battalion chief said.
