Fire Burns Several Acres On Mount Madonna In Santa Cruz Mountains

GILROY (CBS SF) -- A brush fire burning in the Santa Cruz mountains Friday evening was around 90 percent contained, according to a Cal Fire official.

The fire, reported around 4 p.m. near Croy Ridge and Summit roads in the Mount Madonna area, consumed around 5 to 7 acres, according to Battalion Chief Brandon Leitzke.

Fire crews were to remain on the scene through Friday night and into Saturday, making sure the fire is completely extinguished, Leitzke said.

The fire was being handled by the Santa Clara County division of Cal Fire with assistance from the Santa Cruz division.
