PLEASANTON (CBS SF) -- A fatal crash off eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in Pleasanton Tuesday night claimed two lives and started a small brush fire, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident was first reported around 11 p.m. near the San Ramon Road off ramp, CHP officials said.

The driver of a speeding sedan clipped an SUV, lost control and flew off of the roadway, crashing into a tree as the car burst into flames.
