Feds, Oakland Police Crackdown On Gang Members

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – Federal and local authorities launched a series of raids early Friday in Oakland, detaining 15 known gang members and seizing drugs and guns.

Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said the raids targeted known gang members involved in violent crime within the city.

The gang members had been identified through the city's Operation Ceasefire program.

During the raids, four firearms – including an assault rifle with a 100-round drum – were seized along with 10 pounds of marijuana, 100 marijuana plants, and three ounces of cocaine and one ounce of heroin.

The joint operation is part of the continued commitment of the OPD and FBI to address violent crime in the City of Oakland.
