FBI Agent's Gun Stolen In San Francisco Recovered; Suspect In Custody
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A weapon that was stolen from an FBI agent's car has been recovered and a suspect taken into custody late Tuesday morning, according to authorities.
KPIX 5 reported the gun had been left in a backpack in the front seat of car, which is against FBI protocol, and that the agent involved was from Oklahoma City, in town to watch the Warriors-Thunder playoff game.
The FBI issued a press release stating that the gun stolen from an FBI agent's vehicle on Pierce Street in San Francisco over the weekend was found at around 11 a.m. after an investigation led authorities to a residence near the intersection of Keith and Thomas streets in the city's Bayview District.
An FBI SWAT team executed a federal search warrant at the residence that was based on surveillance footage taken near where the weapon, a .40 caliber Glock 27, was originally stolen on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities said one suspect was taken into federal custody at the residence in connection with the stolen weapon. The FBI said they are continuing their search for the agent's stolen credentials and badge.
