Father Of Baby Allegedly Stabbed To Death By Mother In Livermore Found Dead

SANTA CLARA COUNTY (CBS SF) -- The father of a baby who police say was stabbed to death by her mother in Livermore was found dead Wednesday, according to authorities published report.

A spokesman for the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office said the body of Daniel Sherman was found at an undisclosed location.

Sherman was the father of William Brian Sherman, a seven-month-old baby who was stabbed to death in April at a rural area near Livemore.

Police have charged the baby's mother, Ashley Newton, with murder after officers said she admitted to stabbing the baby numerous times. The 23-year-old Newton pleaded not guilty in June and remains in Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

Detectives have determined that Newton had a history of depression but were  working to determine a motive.

Police have not offered details on the circumstances surrounding Sherman's death.

The Oakland Tribune reported Sherman, who is believed to have been in his 20s and living in San Jose, was interviewed after his son's killing but was never a suspect of person of interest.
