1 Dead In SUV Crash On Hwy 101 In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- At least one person died during a vehicular accident Sunday morning on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco.

At 4:09 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report that an SUV struck the highway's center divider, just south of Cesar Chavez Street, according to the CHP.

A witness told officers the driver of the vehicle was ejected during the crash, CHP officials said.

Officers also received multiple reports that a male was lying face down in the roadway, CHP officials said.

At 4:24 a.m., the CHP issued a Sig-alert for the highway's southbound lanes.

At 5:17 a.m., the Sig-alert was cancelled and all lanes of the highway reopened.
