Pedestrian Struck, Killed In San Jose Hit-And-Run

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A man was struck and killed by a hit and run driver in San Jose Sunday afternoon, police said.

Shortly after 3 p.m., San Jose police received a 911 call reporting that a driver had struck a pedestrian at the intersection of The Woods Drive and Snell Avenue and then fled the scene.

Officers arrived at the intersection and found a bleeding man lying on the ground, according to police.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later, police said.

The suspect and the suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to the arrival of police and have not yet been located, officers said.

The victim's name is being withheld pending confirmation of his identity and notification of his next of kin, police said.

The San Jose Police Department is continuing to investigate the fatal collision and anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact police at (408) 277-8900.
