Crash kills 2, injures 6 after car veers off Highway 680 in Pleasanton

Two people were killed in a crash Monday afternoon on Interstate Highway 680 in Pleasanton, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A car veered off the road on southbound I-680, near the Sunol exit, around 2:36 p.m., the Alameda County Fire Department said.

There were six adults and two children in the car. The fire department said two adults died at the scene; two were taken to the hospital, and the rest of the occupants had minor injuries.

The two children were taken to an Oakland hospital for a check-up.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash.
