Woman On Sidewalk Killed In Concord Hit-And-Run, Suspect Arrested

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- Police in Concord have arrested a driver of a pickup truck suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run that killed a mother of five on Sunday night.

Authorities arrested 29-year-old Tyler Larson of Antioch Monday in the death of 46-year-old Yolanda Tiscareno of Concord.

Officers responded to a report that a vehicle had hit a pedestrian in the area of Willow Pass Road near Fifth Street around 11:40 p.m., police said.

A pickup truck traveling east on Willow Pass Road left the roadway, hit a pedestrian walking west on the sidewalk and fled the scene, police said.

Arriving officers found the victim deceased on the roadway, according to police.

Tiscereno's five children and her grandson were at the spot where she died Monday.

"She was a free spirit loved by everyone. Talk to anybody, they only have good things to say about her," son Victor Tiscareno told KPIX 5.

Daughter Diamond Tiscareno said, "She was just one of those people a ton of people cared for her and looked out for her."

Following the incident, police were looking for a pickup truck with front-end damage.

Police credited the tips they received for leading to an arrest in the case.

"We're really grateful for the public and media for helping us with this one. We were getting tips all day," Officer Ken Carlson of the Concord Police told KPIX 5.

Larson's truck has been confiscated.

Anyone with information is asked to call Carlson at (925) 603-5931.
