Fast-Moving Brush Fire Threatens Several Homes In El Sobrante

EL SOBRANTE (CBS SF) -- Firefighters were getting the upper hand on a brush fire in El Sobrante was threatening several homes in the area, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials said Saturday.

The 2-alarm fire was reported at about 2 p.m. Saturday.

Strike teams and three fire engines were called in to the area of the brush fire located at 5645 Olinda Road for structural protection of homes on Amend and Valley View roads.

The fire charred about 15 acres. At least seven homes were threatened, officials said.

Fire officials did not expect full containment until late Saturday afternoon.
