Facebook Inadvertently Declares State Of War In Philippines With Independence Day Message

MENLO PARK (KCBS) -- Facebook issued an apology after inadvertently declaring a state of war in the Philippines with an Independence Day message.

The social network's message included a flag with the red and blue colors inverted.  Blue is on top of the red strip during times of peace, but Facebook's flag showed the red on top.

"This was unintentional, and we're sorry," Facebook said in a statement to the Philippine STAR.

Facebook removed the message, but screenshots quickly circulated on other social networks.
