Facebook Headquarters In Menlo Park Evacuated After False Threat

MENLO PARK (CBS SF) -- The Facebook campus in Menlo Park was evacuated Tuesday night after police received reports of a possible threat to the campus.

The Menlo Park Police Department received a report of a possible threat to the campus from San Francisco police around 7:10 p.m., police Cmdr. Dave Bertini said.

The Police Department followed standard operating procedure following the threat in which officers were sent to the campus and advised Facebook personnel of the incident, according to Bertini.

Facebook held employees at the site until officers were on scene.

The threat was determined to be unsubstantiated and not credible, and officers began to clear the scene around 8:30 p.m.

"We're not even sure the threat was against Facebook," Bertini said, adding that he couldn't disclose specific details about the threat.
