Facebook Becomes Virtual Friends With Microsoft In Gaming World
MENLO PARK (CBS SF) - Facebook and Microsoft are partnering up on virtual reality gaming.
Gamers will be able to stream Xbox One games Facebook's Oculus Rift virtual reality headset through computers running on Windows 10.
The first commercial edition of the Oculus Rift features screens for each eye, and integrated and removable headphone, and a tabletop camera to track head movements. The pricing wasn't released although Oculus has mentioned in the past a range of $200-$400.
As part of the deal with Microsoft, Oculus will ship the rift with an Xbox One wireless controller and related PC adapter when it hits the market in the first quarter of 2016.
Sony also plans to launch its Morpheus virtual reality headset in the first half of 2016.
