Golden Gate Ferry Will Add Service For Friday SF Giants World Series Parade Celebration

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Golden Gate Ferry will provide extra ferry service from Larkspur to San Francisco for the Giants' World Series parade on Friday.

Fans are encouraged to buy ferry tickets today or use Clipper, according to Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District spokeswoman Priya Clemens.

"The ferries are expected to be packed, lines will be long and parking will be extremely tight," Clemens said.

The first of five ferries from Larkspur will leave at 5:45 a.m. and ferries will then run continuously between 7 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. before the noon parade.

The ferries will leave as soon as they are loaded instead of following a strict schedule, Clemens said.

One ferry will run from Sausalito at 7:10 a.m. The Sausalito schedule will be the same as usual, but each boat will be staffed to accommodate more passengers, Clemens said.

There will be extra ferry service from San Francisco back to Marin County after the parade, Clemens said. The afternoon ferries also will leave as soon as they are loaded.

The Larkspur Ferry Terminal's parking lot is expected to fill up early and riders are encouraged to use a shuttle bus, walk, bike or get dropped at the ferry terminal, Clemens said.

The full ferry fare to San Francisco from Larkspur is $10 and $10.75 from Sausalito. Clipper fares are $6.50 from Larkspur and $5.50 from Sausalito. Children under 5 are free and there are discounts for seniors, youth and disabled passengers.

The Giants beat the Kansas City Royals 3-2 in the thrilling Game 7 of the World Series in Kansas City Wednesday night.
