Equipment Problems Near Downtown Oakland Lead To BART Delays

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – BART riders are facing 20-minute delays systemwide as a result of an equipment problem on the tracks near downtown Oakland, a dispatcher said.

BART initially reported the problem at 7:50 a.m. The dispatcher said there was an issue with switching equipment on the tracks.

Trains were moving again through the area as of shortly after 8 a.m., but there is a backup causing delays of up to 20 minutes, according to the dispatcher.

There were also delays earlier this morning because of a separate track equipment problem reported at 4:40 a.m.
