Smoke Under Train Prompts Major Delay On Fremont BART Line
UNION CITY (CBS SF) -- BART officials said service through Union City has been restored Thursday but trains are single-tracking through the city's station.
As of 7:35 p.m., trains were traveling through the station.
BART officials said the cause of the delay was a train that had a locked axle and, when crews went to move it, sparks and smoke were seen.
Firefighters responded. There were no reports of any injuries.
Initial word is that one of the cars likely experienced a locked axle. Riders were off boarded and when we went to move the train to the shop it experienced sparks and smoke. The Fire Dept responded to assist. We are single tracking now and will move the train to the shop later. https://t.co/6xQOtSekzS
