Emergency Repairs To Close Part Of Richmond-San Rafael Bridge

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- Drivers who use the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge may face evening and morning delays during the holiday weekend due to lane closures for emergency repairs.

Caltrans is closing a lane of the upper deck of the busy span to repair a pothole in the area just beyond the toll plaza.

"It's about three feet wide. But more significantly, it went all the way through the bridge deck, so we knew we were looking at a fairly serious repair," said Caltrans spokesman Bob Haus.

The pothole opened up Thursday night.

The closure will affect drivers coming from the East Bay to Marin. Friday night, the closure will run from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

On Saturday and Sunday nights, it lasts from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.
