Electric Vehicle Need Longer Range Capability To Fully Charge The Market

(KCBS) - Electric vehicle sales in 2015 haven't been anything to get excited over.

According to Inside EV's monthly sales scorecard, overall sales in the U.S. are down slightly from the pace last year.

Tesla's Model S is the top seller, followed by the Nissan Leaf, the Chevrolet Volt, the BMW i3, and the Ford Fusion.

According to TrueCar, the key to grabbing the mass market will be extending the average electric vehicle range past two hundred miles, something Elon Musk says Tesla will do with its upcoming Model 3, which is expected to be priced at around $35,000 and when it debuts in 2017.

Navigant Research has a bullish forecast for electric vehicle growth over the next decade, with better range and pricing the two keys.
