Elderly Woman's Body Found Floating Off Water At Alameda County Beach

ALAMEDA COUNTY (KCBS)— An elderly woman's body was found in the water off an Alameda beach Tuesday afternoon, according to East Bay Regional Park District officials.

A visitor to Robert C. Crown Memorial Beach noticed the woman's body floating off the water at about 12:30 p.m. and called police, the park district said.

Alameda police and firefighters responded to the area of Shoreline Drive and Willow Street, pulled the woman's body from the water and contacted the park district, which has jurisdiction over the beach, park district police Lt. Alan Love said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not carrying identification and it remains unclear how she ended up in the water, Love said.

Alameda County coroner's deputies responded and took possession of the body, Love said.
