Elderly Man Fatally Struck In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS-SF) -- A 90-year-old man has died of injuries he suffered after being struck by a utility truck,  according to San Jose police.

Officers responded at 5:43 p.m. Tuesday to the area of South Boscom Avenue on a report of a vehicle that collided with a pedestrian.

Police said the preliminary investigation revealed the 90-year-old man was crossing the roadway when he was struck by a utility truck traveling south on South Bascom Avenue.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the truck stopped and cooperated with investigators. The San Jose Police Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the incident.

Police said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the incident.

The identity of the pedestrian has not been released.
