Elderly Man Arrested For Bank Robbery In San Francisco Mission District

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco police have made an arrest in the robbery of a bank on Mission St.

On Friday, Feb. 22 at around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Mission St. after receiving reports that a bank had been robbed. Officers worked with a bank teller, who said that the suspect approached the window and demanded money.

The suspect "simulated" a handgun, police said. The teller feared for her safety and complied with the suspect's demands. After receiving the money, the suspect fled on foot. No one was injured in the robbery.

Police spoke to a security guard who said that the suspect ran into a nearby business before walking officers over to the location and pointing out the suspect. He was immediately arrested and searched.

The suspect, 71-year-old Huge Carranza, was found to have cash and tracker bills, which the bank teller had handed him. Carranza was booked into San Francisco County Jail for robbery and a no-bail warrant.
