Egrets Make Their Summer Home On Google's Mountain View Campus
MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) -- A group of sycamore trees on the Google campus has become the new home for a large colony of egrets. There are so many birds that Google has closed the aptly-named Shorebird Way to prevent chicks that fall from their nest from being run over.
Wildlife experts say this colony represents about 20% of all the egrets in the Bay Area.
On the nearby Bay Trail, passersby have seen the adults hunting for their newborns and, for the most part like, what they see.
"They're tall and lanky and thin -- like me," Rodger Rushing told us. But young Jessie Rushing was less impressed. "I don't want to talk about them," he said.
The colony is expected to be active until the end of August.
