East San Jose Murder May Have Been Motivated By Color Of Man's Car

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- San Jose Police arrested two men and were searching for two others in the shooting death of a young father that relatives say was motivated by the color of his car.

Police announced Tuesday that suspects David Martinez and Richard Guerrero were arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail for the shooting death of Eric Mendoza-Hurtado on April 3rd, 2014.

Suspects James Guerrero and Isaac Martinez remained on the loose.

Family members suggested to the San Jose Mercury News they believe Mendoza-Hurtado - who had no gang ties - may have been targeted because his car was red, the color of Norteño street gangs, while his neighborhood is claimed by Sureño street gangs, which identify with the color blue.
