Magnitude 5.1 Earthquake Strikes Offshore Near Eureka

EUREKA (AP) -- A 5.1-magnitude earthquake has struck Northern California but there are no reports of damage or injuries.

A U.S. Geological Survey website says the temblor hit at 5:02 p.m. Friday and was centered about 50 miles offshore of Eureka.

The quake was widely felt in the Humboldt Bay area.

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the northern California coast.
