Dump Truck Accident Slows Traffic On Dumbarton Bridge

SAN MATEO (CBS SF) -- A dump truck crash that created a minor fuel spill caused a traffic backup on the Dumbarton Bridge early Thursday, officials said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at 6:26 a.m. on the eastbound side of the bridge that connects Menlo Park and Fremont. The crash blocked several lanes of eastbound traffic.

An estimated 5 gallons of fuel spilled into the Bay as a result of the crash, CHP Officer James Evans said. State wildlife officials have been asked to respond to the scene.

No one was injured in the crash. Eastbound traffic was blocked until just before 11 a.m., when the CHP announced that all lanes had reopened.
