Duct Fire At Martinez Refinery Quickly Extinguished

MARTINEZ (CBS SF) -- A fire at a refinery in Martinez was quickly extinguished and no injuries have been reported this afternoon.

The fire, located in a duct at the refinery, was reported around 2:45 p.m.

Plant personnel put out the fire within 10 minutes. Contra Costa Fire Protection District officials said they were called to respond to a fire at the refinery, but that the request was quickly canceled.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to fire officials.

Shell officials initially said the fire was at their refinery, but have since said that the fire occurred at another nearby location.
