Dublin Claims Spot As State's 3rd Fastest Growing City

DUBLIN (CBS SF) -- Dublin is California's third fastest growing city, according to a new study.

"It's a great town. I'm glad we found it twenty years ago," Erin Matheny, Dublin resident said.

"You run into people all the time. It's just such a small community, so that's the nice part," he said.

But, new numbers show that Dublin isn't so small anymore.

Last year, Dublin's population exploded, jumping over 7 percent to over 56,400 residents, making it one of the state's fastest growing cities.

Gupta says you can see new housing construction popping up all over the city, new homes from the high end to the starter homes are sprouting up throughout East and West Dublin.

Neighbors say the influx is bringing welcome new tax dollars to Dublin schools, but wonder just how far the growth will go.

"I definitely think there's more to be built, but I think we're kind of running out of room," Pat Creighton, Dublin resident said.
