Drivers Flee After Separate Car-Into-Building Incidents In Oakland, SF

OAKLAND (KCBS) — Oakland and San Francisco police are looking for hit-and-run suspects that involved is separate incidents in which vehicles were driven into buildings in both cities early Monday morning.

In San Francisco's Mission District, just after 2 a.m, a Lexus plowed into Joey & Pat's Bakery on Folsom and 21st Streets. There were no injuries to anyone in the building, which has apartments above, but police were checking hospitals for the two women who were seen fleeing the wrecked car on foot.

 

Meanwhile in downtown Oakland, a Nissan car struck another vehicle at 17th Street and Telegraph Avenue and careened into an empty, upscale bar.

The inside of car was covered with blood and eyewitness reported five young people fleeing the scene on foot.

There was a pile of marble, splintered framing, broken glass and motor oil inside Bar Dogwood. Alexis Filipello, the owner, surveyed the damage. She told KCBS that she hoped that nearby surveillance cameras will help police identify the hit and run driver.

The damage to the bar, she estimated, is about $50,000.
