4 Hospitalized In Mountain View Multiple-Car Collision

MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) – Police said four people went to a hospital Wednesday morning after a collision involving four cars in Mountain View but their injuries are not considered serious.

Officers responded at 7:22 a.m. to the collision at Grant Road and Martens Avenue. Police initially said only three cars were involved in the collision.

Prior to the crash, one of the vehicles also hit at least one other car along westbound state Highway 237, Mountain View police spokeswoman Katie Nelson said.

Nelson said previously that one of the vehicles hit several vehicles on Highway 237. She also clarified that despite some speculation, police were not involved in a chase before the collision.

Highway 237 becomes Grant Road west of El Camino Real.

The collision closed the intersection and traffic was diverted until 8:30 a.m. when the roadway reopened.

Nelson said drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a part in the collision.
