Driver Killed When Car Plunges Off Santa Cruz County Cliff

SANTA CRUZ (CBS SF) – A person was killed when they crashed 300 feet over a cliff off state Highway 1 in Santa Cruz County Monday morning, according to California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire officials.

The crash was reported at about 11:15 a.m. just north of the bridge over Scott Creek, according to the CHP. Cal Fire officials said a car went 300 feet over the cliff.

Firefighters responded to find an occupant of the car dead. Crews recovered the body as of about 1:30 p.m., Cal Fire officials said.
