Driver fleeing from Oakland police crashes into patrol car; 2 officers injured

Oakland police said a driver crashed into a patrol car while trying to flee from police on Tuesday morning.

Around 11 a.m., officers were called to the 500 block of 85th Avenue for reports of two people unresponsive inside of a car.

Officers conducted a welfare check and contacted the two occupants. Police said the officers then learned the vehicle had stolen license plates and tried to detain the driver.

The driver resisted and crashed into a marked patrol car as they fled the scene. Police said two officers were injured during the incident.

Oakland police are still investigating and anyone with information is asked to call police at 510-238-3426.
