2 Brothers Found Fatally Shot Near Downtown San Jose

SAN JOSE (KPIX 5) – Police in San Jose are investigating the fatal shootings of two brothers near Downtown San Jose on Sunday evening.

Officers responded to the scene at South 8th Street and Martha Street after shots were fired around 8:45 p.m. When police arrived, they found both men wounded.

One of the brothers died at the scene, while the other was transported to the hospital where he later died.

"They're very shaken up, just like any neighborhood would be about a homicide, and in this case a double homicide," Lt. Chris Monahan told KPIX 5. "Some of the neighbors here knew both victims, there's layers of tragedy here."

Police said one suspect or multiple suspects drove up to the victims, who were outside, before opening fire.

A motive has not been determined and police have not identified any suspects. Authorities believe the shooting may be gang-related.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the San Jose Police Department.
