Downed Tree Shuts Down Highway 9 In Santa Cruz Co.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY (CBS SF) -- State Highway 9 just south of state Highway 35 in Santa Cruz County is closed Monday morning after a three to four foot diameter tree fell across the road, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The downed tree was first reported at 3:40 a.m., said CHP officer Ron Simmons.

Power lines are also down in area, according to CHP officials, and the agency estimates the highway could be closed until 5:30 p.m. tomorrow.
