Standoff In San Francisco's Visitacion Valley Ends Peacefully
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — An eight hour standoff with police ended peacefully Thursday morning in San Francisco's Vistacion Valley neighborhood, when an armed domestic violence, suspect, who barricaded himself in a home with his children, surrendered, authorities said.
The suspect, who has a violent history, opened up his door to police and surrendered at about 7 a.m. at a house in the 100 block of Ward Street, near Brussels Street. His two children, 11 and 14, were also inside, Sgt. Danielle Newman said.
The suspect, a man in his 30s, was involved in a domestic violence incident Wednesday night about 11 p.m. in which shots were fired at another house in the 400 block of London Street in the Excelsior District, according to police.
"I don't know if he was shooting at someone; so it was a domestic violence call. During that incident, or as it was ending, there was gunfire. No one was injured it," Newman said.
Newman said the children are safe and that police will remain, with search warrants to process the scene for several hours.
