Coast Guard, Divers Rescue Dozens After Boat Capsizes Near Pier 45

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- At least 7 people were hospitalized after a boat capsized Saturday afternoon near Pier 45 in San Francisco dumping dozens of people into the bay, San Francisco fire officials said.

The officials reported the incident at 4:24 p.m. on Twitter.

Twenty-seven adults and three children were aboard the Khaleesi, a 34-foot recreational boat. Some were trapped under the hull, according to fire officials.

According to a statement, Good Samaritans, the U.S. Coast Guard, helicopters and divers responded.

The Coast Guard said all 30 individuals were out of the water and accounted for as of 5 p.m.

Five adults and 2 children were hospitalized.

A 5-year-old boy was reported in critical condition. Fire officials said he was unconscious when he was rescued from the water. A Good Samaritan gave him CPR until emergency responders arrived.
