Diners Say Arrivederci To SF's Popular Villa Romana

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- After 59 years, San Francisco's popular Italian restaurant, Villa Romana, is closing its doors.

Saturday night there was a long line of customers waiting to say a heart-felt arrivederci before the restaurant's final day, Sunday.

Villa Romana's menu included dishes like chicken scaloppini and plenty of pizza -- comfort food. One diner described it as the kind of food you get at "grandma's house."

"Its a very emotional night for my family," said Antonio Accardo, Jr. "But it's a very festive occasion." His father, 75-year-old Antonio Accardo Sr. came here in 1956 to help his Uncle Gino run the place.

"When I cam over from Italy, I came to make a better living," said Accardo Sr. "San Francisco gave me a better living."
