Deputies Fire Shots At Vehicle Following Pursuit Through Hayward

HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- A man is in custody Thursday morning after allegedly leading deputies on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle that ended in a deputy-involved shooting in Hayward.

Deputies with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office were pursuing the vehicle around 11:45 p.m. Thursday when it turned onto a dead end street at Ricardo Avenue at Falgren Avenue.

Deputies said the suspect backed into a yard, hit a retaining wall and drove forward at deputies, who fire several shots at the vehicle.

The vehicle was hit several times, but the driver and a female passenger were not injured, according to deputies.

The driver, who has not yet been identified, was taken into custody.

There were no other reported injuries in the incident.
