Deadly Shooting In Pinole Shuts Down Highway 80 For Hours

PINOLE (CBS SF) -- All lanes of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 have reopened Wednesday morning following a fatal shooting in Pinole, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded around 11 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a shooting on the highway near Pinole Valley Road and located two victims, a man and a woman, in an Audi and suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the CHP.

The victims were transported to the hospital, but the man died as a result of his injuries.

All lanes of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 were closed for several hours so investigators could collect evidence and process the scene, according to the CHP.

Investigators said it appears the shooting was not random.

There have been no arrests made in the shooting.
