Pedestrian dies in San Francisco hit-and-run; suspect arrested

One person was detained after a pedestrian died in a collision in San Francisco Sunday evening, police said. 

The collision happened around 6:45 p.m. along the 1800 block of Ocean Avenue, west of City College of San Francisco. 

Police said a victim was found suffering from life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where the person died. 

Officers located the suspect driver near the 500 block of Shields Street. He was identified as 47-year-old Hai Van Le, who was arrested on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence causing injury, felony hit-and-run, and elder abuse.

San Francisco police urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to call the department at 415-575-4444 or send a text to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
