Oakland driver kills 3, injures 3 after veering onto sidewalk
A driver struck and killed three people in East Oakland late Saturday night, the fire department said.
Oakland police said a driver, believed to have been speeding, was traveling northbound on 85th Avenue around 11:15 p.m., when they turned westbound onto International Avenue and hit a parked vehicle. The vehicle then continued to travel and hit multiple people who were along International Boulevard.
Police said three died at the scene and three were injured and taken to the hospital. The driver, identified as a juvenile, was also injured and taken to a hospital.

Avoid the area.
According to a witness, the driver tried to run from the scene immediately after the crash but was stopped by people in the area.
"Oakland is mourning the lives lost in last night's tragic crash at International Boulevard and 85th Avenue in East Oakland. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, loved ones, and all of those impacted," Mayor Barbara Lee said.
