Mosquitos Test Positive For West Nile Virus In San Jose; Fogging To Begin Early
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus in San Jose, according to South Bay officials.
Fogging trucks will roll through parts of San Jose and Campbell earlier than ever this year because of the find.
"I think I'm going to have my kids come out here with insect repellent now," San Jose resident Bob McCarty said.
The county will spray a zone south of I-280, and north of East Campbell Avenue Thursday night.
Dead birds may be a sign of West Nile Virus, which can cause flu-like symptoms including fever, headache, and body aches. In some cases, the virus can lead to neurological damage, or death.
"One of my neighbors said that she noticed a couple of dead crows in her backyard," McCarty said.
